Meet This Ping
Pinguicula Ehlersiae

Pinguicula ehlersiae is a striking Mexican butterwort native to the gypsum hillsides of Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí, Mexico, first collected near Guadalcázar and named for its discoverer, Renate Ehlers. This carnivorous species forms a compact rosette of bright green, succulent, spoon-shaped leaves that glisten with sticky mucilage used to trap small insects. Like many Mexican pings, it grows carnivorous summer leaves and switches to a tighter, non-carnivorous succulent rosette during its winter rest.

Growers appreciate this form for its neat rosette and delicate lavender-to-white blooms that rise above the foliage on slender stalks. During the active season, the plant develops vibrant carnivorous leaves that efficiently capture fungus gnats and other tiny insects.

Each plant is grown with care by Ping & Bloom and shipped healthy and established.
