Pinguicula Agnata is a classic Mexican butterwort native to the calcareous limestone cliffs of Hidalgo, Mexico, where it clings to steep, dry rocky slopes at elevations above 1,500 meters — often growing right alongside cacti and agaves. It forms a rosette of bright green, spoon-shaped leaves coated in sticky glandular mucilage that traps and digests small insects. Like many Mexican pings, it's heterophyllous: lush carnivorous leaves appear through spring and summer, giving way to a tight, non-carnivorous succulent rosette during its winter rest.

Growers prize this species for its variability — different forms show flowers ranging from pure white to deep purple, some even fragrant, rising on slender stalks above the foliage.
