Meet This Ping

Pinguicula Agnata is a classic Mexican butterwort native to the calcareous limestone cliffs of Hidalgo, Mexico, where it clings to steep, dry rocky slopes at elevations above 1,500 meters — often growing right alongside cacti and agaves. It forms a rosette of bright green, spoon-shaped leaves coated in sticky glandular mucilage that traps and digests small insects. Like many Mexican pings, it's heterophyllous: lush carnivorous leaves appear through spring and summer, giving way to a tight, non-carnivorous succulent rosette during its winter rest.

Growers prize this species for its variability — different forms show flowers ranging from pure white to deep purple, some even fragrant, rising on slender stalks above the foliage. It's also one of the classic parent species behind many well-known Pinguicula hybrids. Each plant is grown with care by Ping & Bloom and shipped healthy and established.

Care Level
Level 2 – Easy with Basic Care
This species grows well with bright light, moderate watering through the growing season, and a well-draining mineral substrate. Let the media dry out further once winter (non-carnivorous) leaves appear.

Care instructions are included with your order, and a full digital care guide is available via QR code.
